The FA Carlsberg Trophy
First Round Proper
Saturday 16 December 2006
Winning Clubs receive £4,000

FA Trophy holders Grays Athletic were handed a tough away tie in today's First Round Proper draw made at Soho Square.

Winners in the 2005 Final against Hucknall Town at Villa Park and the 2006 Final against Woking at Upton Park, the Essex Club must travel to Weymouth, one of this season's Conference high-flyers who are always strong at home. The sides actually meet in the Conference at Wessex Stadium this weekend.

No club has won The Trophy three years running.

Last season's runners-up Woking also face a potentially difficult tie at Salisbury City. The FA Cup heroes from Wiltshire take on Nottingham Forest in BBC's live tie on Sunday and will relish staging another big game in a different competition.

Oxford United, Jim Smith's Conference table-toppers, go to the winners of Banbury United or Lewes, who are due to play their postponed Third Round Qualifying tie tomorrow night. Dagenham & Redbridge, only two points behind, entertain Crawley Town in an all-Conference clash.

Gateshead, in the bottom half of the UniBond Premier, shocked Conference North leaders Workington with a 4-2 win at Borough Park on Saturday. Their reward is a home match with Nigel Clough's Burton Albion.

The First Round Proper ties are scheduled for 16 December, with the winners picking up £4,000 each.
