Edgar Davids' first taste of FA Cup football didn't bring the result and experience he would have wanted, but the Barnet player-coach is hoping to make further improvements over the season.

The Dutchman was a substitute for the Bees, but came on in the second half to make his debut in the competition, something which he'd always wanted to do throughout his career as he revealed to FATV in the build-up to the game.

And the cameras were at Underhill again to catch him in action on Saturday, as Barnet's Cup dreams were brought to an end in the First Round by League Two rivals Oxford United.

He said: "I had wanted a different experience, but still, it's The FA Cup and it's disappointing that we're out of this competition.

"The difference was that the other team were much, much better and in the second half, they expressed it in goals and possession play."

The 39-year-old is now hoping that he can bring the wealth of experience that he has accumulated during his time with the likes of Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan and Barcelona to the Barnet squad as they fight to stay in the Football League.

"There are some talented players and I'm trying to develop them into better players," he added.

"Sometimes it's difficult, but the positive is that we have another game on Tuesday now."
