This season’s FA Cup starts over the weekend of 11 August.

The 132nd FA Cup competition starts in just over a month’s time with 758 clubs and the draws for the Extra Preliminary Round, Preliminary Round and First Round Qualifying have been released today.

The designated date for the Extra Preliminary Round is 11 August, though as always there may be a sprinkling of Friday and Sunday ties, and this time exactly 400 clubs will be involved.

Tie No.1 has Dunston UTS, FA Vase winners at Wembley in May, at home to Armthorpe Welfare. Celtic Nation are at Billingham Sythonia and two north-east sides who have made their mark in The Cup – Tow Law Town and Bishop Auckland – will clash at Ironworks Road. Tow Law have been in the Second Round Proper and Bishops reached the Fourth Round in the 1950s.

Hallam FC from Sheffield, founded in 1860 and therefore even older than The FA Cup, have an away tie at Irlam. Alvechurch from near Birmingham, who were once involved in a Fourth Round Qualifying tie that lasted for eleven hours, are at Norton United. Hanworth Villa from Middlesex, who stormed through to last season’s Fourth Round Qualifying in their first-ever Cup campaign, entertain Bethnal Green United at Rectory Meadows.

There was particular interest in Wembley FC’s fate in the draw. The Combined Counties League outfit haven’t made it through to the First Round Proper for 32 years but are due to have the help of some top-class players from the recent past in this season’s competition. The Lions are at home to Langford and the winners of that tie will then face a difficult trip to Uxbridge in the Preliminary Round two weeks later.

Bracknell Town have a local derby with Binfield at Larges Lane and Whyteleafe fans have a short journey to Redhill for the big match in east Surrey. The Reds’ only appearance in the First Round Proper was made 55 years ago and ‘Leafe made theirs in 1999, when the ‘Match of the Day’ cameras captured the highlights of their battling draw with Chester City.

‘Leafe, with former Arsenal star Ian Selley in midfield, were relegated from the Isthmian League’s Division One South in dramatic fashion on the last day of the season and now line up in the Kent League. A Cup win at Redhill will earn them a home tie with Corinthian-Casuals.

Redbridge of the Isthmian League Division One North had a roller-coaster ride through to the Second Round Proper last season before going out at Crawley. They come in at the Preliminary Round again, where they will travel to the winners of AFC Dunstable v Ampthill Town.
