The Nordic Tournament
3-8 August 2010
Group A England, Finland, Denmark, Iceland
Group B Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Faroe Islands
Finland

The new wave of England U17 internationals will get their first taste of a continental competition when they compete in the Nordic Tournament in August.

As U16s last season the majority of this squad triumphed in the Victory Shield, a round-robin style tournament involving the four British nations, but now they get their chance to compete against three Scandinavian sides in Denmark, Iceland and the host nation Finland. They will then face a final match against either Sweden, Scotland, Faroe Islands or Norway, depending on how the first three results go.

Last year’s U17s won the Nordic Tournament in Norway and seven of that squad went on to help England lift their first ever European title in May.

England begin this year’s tournament on 3 August when they take on Finland in Vaasa. In Tyias Browning, Jasper Johns, Shane Lewis, John Lundstram, Jordan Lussey, David Moli, Adam Morgan and James Ward-Prowse, Head Coach Kenny Swain has handed eight players a maiden international call-up.
