Sane hopes to slay Gunners

Leroy Sane looking to fire Man City into Emirates FA Cup Final at Arsenal's expense

Saturday 22 Apr 2017

Leroy Sane is relishing the opportunity to play his first game at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and hopes a third goal against Arsenal this season can book Manchester City a spot in The Emirates FA Cup Final.

The PFA Young Player of the Year nominee scored in the 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium earlier this month and also struck in the 2-1 victory over the Gunners back in December.

That goal kick-started Sane’s City career and he hasn’t looked back since – the German scored his ninth goal in his last 17 starts at Southampton on Saturday.

The in-form winger has clearly been a thorn in the side for Arsenal this season, and he believes that the Wembley pitch can enable him to cause further damage.

“Can I score again? I hope so – I’ve enjoyed my two games against Arsenal so far this season and I’m going to try to make it three goals in three games against them,” said the 21-year-old.

“I’m really looking forward to playing at Wembley, it’s my first trip there and everyone has told me it’s a nice stadium with a great atmosphere and we’ll have more than 30,000 fans there making plenty of noise, so I can’t wait.

“I think the pitch will suit our style of play and I’ve heard it might be similar to West Ham’s, but no matter where we are playing, we just want to go there and win this game.

“We want to reach the Final and then win the competition, we are all motivated and ready."
