Gareth Southgate has picked a 23-man squad for the Wales game

England Under-21s boss Gareth Southgate has named a 23-man squad for next week’s game against Wales.

The Three Lions have home advantage at Derby County’s iPro Stadium on Wednesday evening for their first match of 2014.

And after seeing his team clock up a record-breaking 9-0 win over San Marino last time out in November to cement their place at the top of their qualifying group, Southgate has retained the spine of that squad for this international derby.

The home crowd will be buoyed with the news that Rams duo Will Hughes and Pat Bamford are both in the squad and there is another former Derby loanee included in the shape of Tom Carroll, who returns to the group after injury kept him out of November’s games.

Defender Michael Keane will also be on familiar territory, after spending time on loan with Championship high-fliers Derby from Manchester United earlier this season.

United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, currently on loan with Doncaster, is also back in the squad for the first time since last August and his former Old Trafford team-mate and current Spurs defender Zeki Fryers is also included.

There is a first Under-21s call-up for Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles, who has been in good form in the Championship this season, after previously featuring for England U20s at the World Cup in Turkey last summer.

In the attacking stakes, Nathan Redmond and Harry Kane are both selected after injury kept them sidelined in November and Wilf Zaha, Ravel Morrison and Thomas Ince are all included after making loan moves in the January transfer window.

Tickets for the game are still available, priced at just £10 for Adults and £5 for U18s. These can be purchased in person from the Digonex Ticket Office, by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 1) or by visiting WeAreDerby.com.
