Bragging rights were claimed as Sittingbourne defeated local rivals Lordswood to progress to the Emirates FA Cup third qualifying round for the first time in 11 years.

In the televised game of the day, Sittingbourne’s Henry Sinai proved the difference, heading home from Richie Hammill’s inswinging corner in the second half to keep the Brickies’ cup dream alive.

The contest brought a record crowd to Martyn Grove for a competitive match, with 745 packing in witness a hard-fought tie between the sides.

Elsewhere, ninth-tier Bury caused one of the upsets of the day as they defeated seventh-tier Blyth Spartans 3-0 away from home.

A superb second half performance saw Alex Cherera and Bebeto Gomes put the Shakers in control, before Conor Pye put the cherry on the cake with five minutes to spare.

Torquay United were on the end of a shock elimination as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Bishops Cleeve, who play two divisions below them.

In front of a sold out crowd, the Mitres capitalised on a poor Torquay performance to make club history in the club.

There was drama at Walton & Hersham as Johl Powell fired in a superb strike in the 92nd minute to beat Farnborough 2-1.

The visitors had been in control for much of the game, having led since the 10th minute - but after the Swans equalised 18 minutes from time, they managed to turn the game on its head with Powell becoming the hero.

Ninth-tier Amersham's dream FA Cup run also continued thanks to a 97th minute winner from Jake Tabor, pipping Burgess Hill Town 3-2 to progress to the third qualifying round for the first time in their history.

In one of the highest scoring outings of the day, Worksop Town overcame Basford United in a 6-3 win, with a hat-trick from Vaughan Redford proving the difference.
