A stunning first-half display helped catapult Horsham into the Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round, overcoming eighth-tier Margate at the second time of asking.

Having initially been held to a 1-1 draw on the Kent coast, Horsham made no mistake on home turf to emerge triumphant from their third qualifying round replay on Tuesday evening.

First-half goals from Ola Ogunwamide and Charlie Hester-Cook gave the Hornets a comfortable 2-0 lead, one they were able to hold on for the remainder of the game to set up a tie against Gorleston in the fourth qualifying round.

Elsewhere, ninth-tier Shifnal Town saw their FA Cup dreams come to an end at the hands of Hednesford Town.

Dan Trickett-Smith’s 67th-minute goal was enough to seal a 1-0 win at Keys Park, with the Pitmen advancing to a blockbuster home tie against National League Gateshead in the next round.

Leiston caused an upset at Hornchurch, forcing the game to extra-time through an Eddie Jackson equaliser before coming out 3-1 victors.

It was one of two replays that went beyond normal time, with King's Lynn Town requiring penalties to edge out Worksop Town after playing out a nail-biting goalless draw in 120 minutes.

A late goal from Harrison Burke booked Chester’s place in the fourth qualifying round, defeating Stockton Town 1-0.

They will be joined in the next round by fellow National League North sides Kidderminster Harriers and Peterborough Sports, who sealed home wins against Buxton and Royston Town respectively.

Down south, Weymouth dominated on their way to a 3-0 victory over Winchester City, with Keelan O’Connell, Ezio Touray and Brooklyn Genesini getting on the scoresheet.

And in a west country derby, Weston-super-Mare got the better of National League South counterparts Chippenham in a 1-0 win.

They will face either Haringey Borough or Lowestoft Town in the fourth round, whose replay got postponed.

Haringey’s clash was one of three ties to be called off on Tuesday, with Chesham United’s meeting with Bishop's Cleeve and Alfreton Town’s visit to Biggleswade Town unable to go ahead.
