Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Manchester City 2-1 in the Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley was a true team effort.

City boss Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, congratulated his opponents, despite believing his side were the better of the two.

They threatened a late comeback after Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo had put United two up at the break, but Jeremy Doku's late goal proved only to be a consolation.

Read on for the thoughts from both managers.

Erik ten Hag said:

"It is always best to end on a high and then you have the whole summer to enjoy. We have players in the squad with high potential and we are progressing. The FA Cup was a trophy on my bucket list. It is a huge trophy and I am so happy that we won this with the players, team and staff. It was a real team performance. I really enjoyed this final, you saw all the work we put in together. I am so happy with the young players. Kobbie Mainoo had a big setback when he got injured in pre-season. But they have the potential to meet the demands of top football."

Pep Guardiola during the FA Cup Final

Pep Guardiola said:

"Congratulations to Manchester United for winning the FA Cup. Our second half was much, much, much better. We were more intense because were 2-0 down and had nothing to lose. It was a tight game. We gave away the first goal. We tried and we had clear chances in the second half but unfortunately we scored the goal a little bit late. Maybe it could have been different. We are disappointed but it is normal teams can lose finals. This season has been extraordinary, the way we have been fighting for all the trophies. We will rest and come back next season."
