We have today published our updated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Action Plan, titled ‘Communities Together’, which outlines our ongoing commitment to using the power of football to drive positive change by connecting, supporting, and inspiring our local communities.
‘Communities Together’ highlights the significant work that we are doing within the areas of Brent and Burton – which are home to Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park – as we look to ensure our iconic facilities are accessible and welcoming, so we can provide memorable moments and inspirational opportunities for our neighbours.
The Action Plan’s three commitments are to:
• Connect with our communities, actively engaging with those on our doorstep and providing them access to Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park
• Support our communities, listening to their needs, and helping to build capacity for charities and local groups in Brent and Burton
• Inspire our communities, delivering unique learning, education, and opportunities in and around our iconic venues, which help our local residents reach their aspirations
Our community work has been a strategic priority for our organisation for many years, which has led to:
• Providing over 20,000 complimentary tickets for the local community to attend events at Wembley Stadium last season
• Offering over 1,000 free Wembley Stadium tours to the local community last season
• Over 60,000 students taking places in our Learning Zone education facility at Wembley Stadium since 2007
• Providing over 3,200 sessions to local grassroots teams at St. George’s Park last season
• Donating £1 million to charity from event day revenue last year, with funds allocated via the Wembley Stadium Foundation
• Raising over £1m for Alzheimer’s Society in the last three years
Coinciding with the update on ‘Communities Together’, today we host our second Community Pitch Day, with over 100 schoolchildren from our Wembley Community Club given the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and play on the pitch at Wembley Stadium, as well as touring the facilities.
Saira Mirza, FA CSR Manager, said: "Football has the unique power to bring people together, unite communities and break down barriers. We’re incredibly proud that Wembley Stadium and St. George’s Park can play an important role within the local areas of Brent and Burton. Through our new CSR action plan, we look forward to ensuring that both of our iconic venues are accessible and welcoming, and can play an important role in our communities by creating memorable moments and inspirational opportunities for our neighbours."
