Joint-manager Kieran Amos wants Takeley to live the dream in this year's Emirates FA Cup ahead of their Preliminary Round tie with Stotfold on Saturday.
The Essex Senior League side – playing at Step 5 of the non-league pyramid – beat Colney Heath 2-1 at the Extra Preliminary stage earlier this month and are aware of the benefits a cup run would bring.
But Amos does not want to get carried away ahead of this weekend's trip to Bedfordshire.
He said: "For a club like us, the prize money is massive. It makes a difference. There's been a lot of money put into our playing surface and it can go towards our general running of the club. There is pressure to pay the bills so it's nice to have that money there as an extra fund in case anything happens during the season.
"But then, obviously, a cup run is also the dream. We want to win and eventually get a cup tie against a bigger club. It would be fantastic to get a game away at a National League club and there are also TV games at this stage.
"But we do take it game by game. We're playing a Step 4 side and there is a difference in terms of sharpness and mindset so we have to be on it.
"It's enjoyable to be in it for as long as we possibly can be."
Amos manages Takeley alongside Alex Martin, who spent time at Inter Milan as a young player before signing for the club in March 2008.
Martin remained as a player until 2021 when he retired, before taking on caretaker manager duties in March 2024 and signing as permanent joint-manager this summer.
The duo's working relationship, alongside the rest of Takeley's staff, is key to their success.
Amos said: "Al was my skipper when I signed for Takeley aged 16. We've always got on and we see football the same way. We disagree on certain things but that's healthy and we always find a compromise.
"We've got a great management team. Ronnie Yates is a goalkeeper coach and almost an assistant manager as well. He's brilliant. Declan Lamb is also a coach, Freddie Burrell is another, and the kitman Rob Maynard has been with us for 11 years now.
"Everyone mucks in. We train twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and it's a great setup."
Preparations are well underway for Saturday's tie, one Amos believes his squad is good enough to win.
And the Takeley boss picked out a couple of his side's young stars capable of catching the eye.
He said: "There's a forward called Jamal Obeng. He started the season really well, is extremely quick and dangerous in behind. He has a lot of chances.
"Charlie Allum, a young lad playing central midfield, has also started the season really well. He has the potential to play a lot higher."
Takeley's tie at Stotfold kicks off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
