We're pleased to announce a partnership with gaming giant EA SPORTS that will see the Barclays Women’s Super League feature in the upcoming FIFA 23 video game.
Alongside the D1 Féminine in France, the Barclays Women’s Super League will be one of the first women’s domestic leagues to ever feature in the FIFA franchise, with all 12 clubs fully licensed to appear in FIFA 23, which will be available worldwide 30 September.
EA SPORTS have spent the last six months visiting clubs to capture head shots of all players to ensure the game is as true to life as possible. So whether you are a fan of Chelsea’s Sam Kerr, who is the first female player featured on the global cover of the game, or one of the many Lionesses who feature in the league, you will be able to take control of your favourite players and try to recreate your most memorable moments.
This will be aided by advancements to FIFA 23’s HyperMotion2 technology and physics system, which have unlocked an array of new features for gameplay to feel more immersive than ever before.
Navin Singh, our commercial director, said: “I’m delighted that the Barclays Women’s Super League will be one of the first women’s club competitions to feature in FIFA 23, with the franchise historically having one of the largest and most engaged gaming communities in the world.
“The added visibility a global brand like EA SPORTS and FIFA 23 will provide for our league, teams and players cannot be underestimated. This very much supports our ambition to accelerate the growth of the women’s game in England, and highlights our commitment to open up the Barclays Women’s Super League, and make it even more accessible, to new audiences around the globe.”
James Salmon, brand marketing director for EA SPORTS FIFA, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome the top flight of English women’s football to the EA SPORTS family through our exclusive partnership with the Barclays Women’s Super League from FIFA 23 onwards.
“With the league having some of the top players across the world, including our cover athlete Sam Kerr, fans will be able to play the world’s game as their favourite players in the most authentic and comprehensive interactive football experiences possible in FIFA 23 and beyond.”
