Birmingham City FC Women’s Marcus Bignot receives seven match touchline ban

Birmingham City FC Women’s Marcus Bignot has been suspended from the touchline for seven matches and ordered to attend a mandatory face-to-face education programme by an independent Regulatory Commission. 

The coach was charged by The FA with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a comment he made during a Women’s Super League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur Women FC on Sunday 13 February 2022. 

Marcus Bignot denied that he used improper and/or abusive and/or insulting language, contrary to FA Rule E3.1, and that it constitutes an ‘aggravated breach’ as the language included a reference, whether express or implied, to sexual orientation.

An independent Regulatory Commission found the charge to be proven and imposed this sanction during subsequent hearings. The written reasons for its decisions can be accessed below.
