This weekend sees the return of the Emirates FA Cup as we get underway with a record-breaking extra preliminary round.
The 208 ties taking place across this weekend is a record for the first round of matches in the Emirates FA Cup.
There will be nine games taking place on Friday night, with Redcar Athletic versus Seaham Red Star getting the competition underway at 7.30pm.
FA Vase winners Newport Pagnell Town face a short trip to Stotfold on Saturday, when AFC Varndeanians, who play at Brighton & Hove Albion’s former ground, Withdean Stadium, welcome Hythe Town.
For Buckhurst Hill, their rise from grassroots football through the leagues will see them enter the Emirates FA Cup for the first time, as they host Walthamstow on Saturday.
Another club entering the competition for the first time are Bury AFC, who were created in 2019 following the expulsion of Bury FC, the two-time FA Cup winners.
On Sunday Bury AFC will be travelling to Hallam FC, who claim to be the second oldest club in the world and are said to play at the oldest football ground, Sandygate.
The winners this weekend will earn £1,125 in prize money, with those defeated receiving £375.
Should the games finish level or the match be postponed, the replays and rescheduled games must take place on or before Thursday 11 August. If the postponed games then require a replay, they must have occurred by Thursday 18 August.
