Set out below is an update on the Council meeting which took place on 25 May 2021. The main highlights were as follows:

Changes to the Laws of the Game
David Elleray is an FA Council Member but also the Technical Director of the International Football Association Board which has responsibility for setting the Laws of the Game. David presented to Council on the Law changes to be implemented ahead of the 2021-22 season, including those relating to handball offences.  

Council Member Survey
FA Council Members recently completed a survey on a variety of topics relating to their roles at The FA and on its various committees. Ross Antrobus (Head of Behavioural Insights and Business Analytics) and Steve Johnson (Chair of the Council Membership & Appointments Committee) provided an overview of the results and next steps.

GamePlan for Disability Football
Sue Campbell (Director, Women’s Football) and Edleen John (Director, International Relations, Corporate Affairs and Co-Partner for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) presented on the development of a Disability Game Plan, which will bring together future work in disability football across The FA. The Plan will focus on a number of key areas including opportunities for disabled people to take part in football and improving the support we provide to our England para teams.
