Our Board met on Thursday 22 April and set out below are the main points discussed at the meeting....
Mark Bullingham (Chief Executive Officer) and Polly Handford (Director, Legal & Governance) provided the Board with an overview of the proposed European Super League and the actions taken by the FA alongside the Premier League, UEFA and Government in response to the announcement of the 12 English, Spanish and Italian clubs to form a new European league.
With UEFA EURO 2020 on the horizon, the Board had the opportunity to hear about the preparations being made. John McDermott (Technical Director) and Gareth Southgate (Senior Men’s Head Coach) offered insight into the technical preparations for the tournament which will give England the best opportunity to be successful.
Mark Burrows (Chief Financial & Operating Officer) updated on the readiness of Wembley Stadium to host matches in the tournament, including crowd capacities and ticketing.
Kathryn Swarbrick (Commercial & Marketing Director) provided an overview of the of the marketing campaign planned and the range of innovative activations we will deliver over the coming months, including the squad announcement.
Finally, Louisa Fyans (Communications Director) set out how we intend to continue our communications journey which started at the FIFA World Cup in 2018, with a focus on shifting perceptions to support the performance of the squad.
Over the last 18 months, the FA has launched a number of new digital technology products including enhancements to existing products such as the Matchday App. Craig Donald (Chief Information Officer) presented to the Board on the roadmap for delivery of further digital technology products over the next few years. Craig also provided the Board with an overview of how we are improving the security of our information assets and use of data.
