Middlesbrough came out on top in a nine-goal thriller at the Dransfield Stadium as Steph Turnbull’s side ran out emphatic 6-3 winners over Hull City.

Goals by Tyler Dodds and England youth teamers Emma Brown and Eleanor Dale set Boro on their way, only for Katie Thompson and Helen Lynskey to haul the Tigresses back into proceedings.

But three goals in eight second-half minutes put paid to Hull’s comeback and earned the visitors a deserved victory.

Nottingham Forest also picked up an away win, at Burnley, while Stoke City eased to a 3-0 win over Fylde and Sunderland stayed top of the table with a 3-1 reverse of Loughborough Foxes.

Crawley and Plymouth Argyle kept up the pace at the top of the Southern Division courtesy of wins over Portsmouth and Chichester City respectively.

Yeovil Town are tucked in behind that pair following a 2-1 defeat of MK Dons.
