The England squad for this month’s games against Spain and Switzerland reported to St. George’s Park on Monday evening.
22 of the 23 players selected by Gareth Southgate last Thursday have arrived at the national football centre. Raheem Sterling has withdrawn from the squad due to a problem with his back, with no immediate replacement planned.
Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was among those joining up ahead of the week’s training sessions, almost two years to the day since the last time he was called up. There were also reunions for Joe Gomez, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and James Tarkowski.
England’s first training session of the week will take place on Tuesday morning as the build-up to their UEFA Nations League opener begins.
The Three Lions face Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening, with the international window concluding in a Kick It Out international against Switzerland in Leicester on Tuesday 11 September.
