England U18s edged out by older China team in Panda Cup

Conor Gallagher captained England against China

A late Guo Tianyu goal handed China Under-19s victory over England Under-18s at the Panda Cup.

Neil Dewsnip’s side, who drew 2-2 with Uruguay on Wednesday, started brightly with Felix Nmecha's header hitting the upright after just seven minutes.

The Young Lions captain, Conor Gallagher, then flashed a shot wide and the sides went in goalless at the break.

The winner came in the 80th minute when Liu Ruofan set up Tianyu for a long-range effort which flew past Billy Crellin.

England conclude their Panda Cup campaign against Hungary on Sunday.
