Gary Cahill's Chelsea will host Norwich in the Emirates FA Cup on Wednesday 17 January

The Emirates FA Cup third round replay between Chelsea and Norwich City will be broadcast live on BBC One on Wednesday 17 January (7.45pm kick-off).

The two sides played out a goalless draw at Carrow Road at the weekend and will subsequently meet again, at Stamford Bridge, next week, when video assistant referees (VAR) will be in operation.

VAR will be used for clear and obvious errors, or serious missed incidents, relating to specific incidents in three ‘game changing’ situations – goals, penalty/no penalty decisions and straight red cards, plus mistaken identity for red or yellow cards.

The VAR automatically checks every such incident and if a clear and obvious error has occurred the referee is informed; the referee can then confirm or change the original decision based on the information from the VAR, or the referee looks at a replay on the side of the pitch. The original decision is only changed if it was clearly and obviously wrong.

The winning club will receive £67,500 from The FA prize fund, while both clubs will pick up £72,000 in live broadcast fees.

The fourth round draw will take place on Monday evening.
