The first week of January has seen a collection of football clubs visit St. George’s Park in a bid to launch 2017 with a bang.

The venue welcomed Port Vale as they prepared for their Emirates FA Cup third round tie with Championship side Huddersfield Town, making use of the durable elite level pitches available, which include the choice of flood-lit, undersoil heated, hybrid and natural grass pitches enabling training to go ahead regardless of the conditions.

Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion U23s battled it out in the Premier League Cup while Swansea City's academy prospects also temporarily relocated from south Wales to begin their new year training.

In addition to hosting FA Cup preparations, Leicester City U23s came face to face against their  counterparts from Brighton and Hove Albion at the site to mark the halfway point in the group stages of the Premier League Cup.

The Seagulls triumphed 1-0, keeping them at the top of Group E with three matches remaining.

Swansea City' U18s also made their way to SGP for training while en route to Newcastle, ahead of an FA Youth Cup tie against the Magpies.

The academy’s U23 and U17 squads have previously visited the site, with management using it as their preferred training venue when travelling due to its logistical position, service and facilities.

This latest collection of visits builds on St. George’s Park’s reputation as a world-class training and match facility for a range of teams.

Since opening in 2012 it has hosted more than 150 domestic and international team visits.

There are a range of packages available at St. George’s Park for pitch hire and training.
