The latest version of English Football’s Inclusion & Anti-Discrimination Action Plan is released today.
With the new season set to begin on Friday evening, the Action Plan reflects on the work done by governing bodies, clubs, County FAs and campaign groups in the campaign just gone whilst looking ahead at priorities for the coming term.
Now in its third year, the plan highlights the progress made in achieving four core goals: widening football’s talent pool, clarifying anti-discrimination regulations and sanctions, instilling confidence in reporting discrimination and increasing knowledge and awareness.
The Action Plan outlines some of the positive steps in 2015-16 with examples of how discrimination has been dealt with effectively in professional and grassroots matches, how mentoring has played a part in under-represented groups securing employment in the game and how the reporting of discrimination is in the ascendancy, demonstrating an increase in confidence for would-be victims to raise abuse with the authorities.
