Keith Downing has named a 20-man squad for England Under-20s’ double-header against France.

The Young Lions travel to Brittany to take on Les Bleuets in St Brieuc on 11 November and then in Ploufragan three days later.

These fixtures follow October’s Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup in Germany, where England beat Holland and Turkey, before narrowly losing the final game against the hosts.

There is a return to the international scene for Chelsea's Charlie Colkett, who made his first club appearance on 20 October after sitting out the opening two months with an ankle injury picked up in their pre-season tour of Austria.

The midfielder comes into the Under-20s for the first time and will be joined in the squad by club-mate Ola Aina, who has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels.

Manchester City also have two players in the group – defender Ashley Smith-Brown and midfielder Brandon Barker.

Goalkeeper Russell Griffiths and right-back Mason Holgate come into the squad from Everton’s academy, while from across Stanley Park, Liverpool’s Cameron Brannagan - who started his first senior game for Jurgen Klopp's men in their League Cup win over Bournemouth - is also included.

Reds striker Ryan Kent – currently on loan at Coventry City – forms one of a four-man forward group.

Alex Gilliead, Tyler Walker and Sam Gallagher complete the front line.

The squad will meet up on Sunday 8 November.
