This match against the traditionally strong Scandinavians came at the end of a two-day training camp at the national football centre.

A different group of 22 players began training at St. George’s Park on Wednesday and they will also take on Norway, on Friday morning.

Marley said: "This January training camp has been split to observe more players within the U19 age group.

"The squads include new players and players who have transitioned from the recent U17 finals.

"The intention is to develop as many players as possible due to the demands of both the U19 European Championship qualifiers in April, hopefully the finals in the summer and also the U20 World Cup in Canada in August."

England will face Denmark, Serbia and host nation Finland in April in a round-robin style Euro qualifying tournament, with the top-placed nation making it to the finals, which are being staged in Norway in July.
