Gloucester Futsal Revolution edged their way further up The FA National Futsal League on Sunday with a 6-2 victory over west country rivals Plymouth University in Swindon.

Both teams entered the game in need of the points for different reasons, but recent form prevailed as Jim Hart’s side punished a Plymouth outfit who have struggled to make a mark in Midlands Division One following their promotion last season.

But Plymouth’s hard work and pressing game really forced Gloucester to work hard for their win and despite their first-half pressure and possession, they only had a two-goal lead to show for it at half time thanks to two strikes from Nathaniel Payne.

His first came after a weaving run into the box ended with a toe-poked finish past Plymouth ‘keeper Simon Prince, before he added a second goal from long-range to put his side in control at the break.

Gloucester then made it 3-0 just ten seconds after the re-start when Jack Morgan pounced upon a misplaced pass and fired home a stunning strike after cutting in from the flank.

Plymouth’s response was positive and they went on to enjoy their best spell of the game, but with tired legs and gaps to exploit on the break, Gloucester were able to add three goals in the space of seven minutes.

Williams bagged a brace and Navaretto neatly finished from a tight angle to make it 6-0, before Plymouth regrouped and began to play with purpose.

Richard Smith tucked home a consolation goal after a flowing move during the dying stages, before Steve Perkins thumped home another seconds before the final whistle.

Plymouth will be encouraged by their efforts late on, but now face a challenge now if they are to stay in the top tier of English futsal.

Chairman Peter Rowley revealed: "The season so far has been a tough one, but as a club we expected that as we are new to the league and we lost a couple of key players over the summer."
