SESSION: the underloading principle

Former Sheffield United academy coach and current Ostersunds FK assistant manager, Joe Sargison, delivers a coaching session with a group of U14/15 academy players looking at the underloading principle.

    Key objectives

During this session players will develop their understanding of:

    • how to play against a team with more/less players
    • defending against a team that counter attacks quickly
    • attacking centrally or wide
    • communication skills
    • awareness and scanning.

    QUESTIONS

After you have watched this session, ask yourself the following questions:

    • How would you adapt or tweak the practice to make it appropriate to your own players?
    • What additional challenges could you set to make the practice easier or harder for individuals or your group?
