New FA Anti-Doping Regulations – effective date 1 January 2021

New FA Anti-Doping Regulations – effective date 1 January 2021

The World Anti-Doping Code is the core document that harmonises anti-doping policies, rules and regulations across worldwide sport. It is periodically reviewed and updated, roughly every six years. The current version of the Code entered into force on 1 January 2015, and a revised version will enter into force on 1 January 2021. FIFA is a signatory to the Code, and its revised Anti-Doping Regulations reflecting changes to the Code - will also come into force on 1 January 2021.

As a result, The FA is obliged to update its Anti-Doping Regulations. Given the WADA Code covers all sport, the implementation date of is out of sync with the traditional dates for the football season, which is why it is necessary for The FA to make these changes mid-season.

The new FA Anti-Doping Regulations will come into force on 1 January 2021.  Please also note the WADA Prohibited List 2021 which forms part of Schedule 3 to the regulations.
