Black History Month events support and inspire coaches up and down the country

Nine events we hosted across six regions throughout October 2019

October 2019 saw us welcome 330 coaches to a series of free events as part of Black History Month.

Hosted across the country, the events aimed to inspire coaches with insight from expert speakers and support them with advice around FA initiatives that could help to achieve the next steps on their coaching journey.

The events were well received by attendees across the board: “I have been truly inspired by the Black History Month event in Manchester” said FA Level 2 coach Ilucio Da Costa Dias.

“I’ve received coach mentor support to help me develop as a coach and a person. I can’t thank The FA enough for these events and their continued support.” He added.

FA Level 1 coach Theo Marcel Farquharson shared this sentiment I enjoyed learning from many experienced individuals and the journey they have had within football.

“Through all adversities put in front of them, they endured and paved the way for my generation which is truly inspiring.

“It was an amazing educational and fun night, thanks to all who attended.”

Paul Elliot, Chair of The FA’s Inclusion Advisory Board, was buoyed by the month of activity:

“I’m delighted that The FA continues to play its part in this arena and having passionate people on the ground making sure the message is delivered locally is crucial and I salute the efforts for that.”
