Steven Gerrard celebrates after winning The FA Cup in 2006
On Friday morning Steven Gerrard confirmed he would leave Liverpool when his contract expires in the summer.
To date the Reds captain has made 695 appearances for the club, and scored 180 goals.
During that time he collected ten trophies – including The FA Cup in 2001 and 2006.
The club statement confirmed Gerrard would not remain in England, nor join a club that brings him into direct competition with Liverpool.
