An added-time penalty denied England Women’s Under-17s a 100 per cent record in their Euro 2016 first qualifying round campaign.

After registering consecutive 13-0 wins over Croatia and host nation Estonia, John Griffiths’s side took the lead in their final qualifier against Poland courtesy of Niamh Charles’s strike midway through the first half.

Manchester City midfielder Georgia Stanway doubled the lead from the penalty spot shortly after the break with her eighth goal in three matches.

But the Young Lionesses were pegged back through two Marcjanna Zawadzka penalties, the first on 69 minutes and the latter in the 83rd.

Despite the late setback, England topped qualifying Group 4 on goal difference and will be in the hat for the elite qualifying round draw which will take place on 10 December.

The last round of qualifiers will take place next spring and the top-placed nation in each of the six groups will make it to the eight-team finals which will be staged in Belarus next May.
