England Women's U17s edged out by Germany

England Women’s Under-17s began their Euro 2017 qualifying preparations with a narrow 1-0 defeat by Germany in Duisburg.

The only goal of the game came in the 37th minute.

John Griffiths’s side will end their year with a match against France, also in Duisburg, on Saturday.

The Young Lionesses will travel to Serbia in early next year when they will attempt to qualify for the Euro finals. They will be joined by Belgium, Iceland and the host nation in Group 6.

England booked their spot in the final round of qualifying after navigating their way through a qualifying group containing Poland, Croatia and Estonia.

The qualifiers will be played between 24-29 March and the group winners will secure a spot at the summer finals in Belarus.
