England Women up to seventh in FIFA World rankings

England Women have risen to seventh in the FIFA Women’s World rankings after their successful World Cup qualifying campaign. 

Mark Sampson’s side completed a perfect campaign on Wednesday with a 10-0 win over Montenegro and moved up a place in the rankings, released on Friday, leap-frogging Canada. 

They topped their qualifying group with ten victories from ten matches - scoring 52 goals along the way - to secure a place at next summer’s World Cup Finals tournament in Canada.

They will find out on 6 December who they will meet in the Finals when the draw is made in Ottawa.

England also beat fifth-ranked Sweden 4-0 in international friendly at Hartlepool in August. 

Their next match is against number two-ranked Germany at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 23 November

It is the first time England Women will have played at the new Wembley and tickets for the historic match are on sale now.
