Jake Forster-Caskey collected his first six Under-21 caps this year

2014 was the breakthrough year for Brighton & Hove Albion schemer Jake Forster-Caskey in the England Under-21s set-up.

The 20-year-old had been capped at U16s, U17s and U18s level in previous years, but his form with the Championship side at the end of last season earned him his first Under-21s call-up in May.

He made his debut in the 3-1 win over Wales at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium before joining the U20s for the Toulon Tournament in France.

And after impressing head coach Gareth Southgate, he retained his place in the squad in September as the Three Lions completed their European Championship qualifying group with back-to-back wins against Lithuania and Moldova.

Forster-Caskey then started both legs of the play-off against Croatia, when he teamed up perfectly with fellow midfielders Tom Carroll and Will Hughes to help England win 4-2 on aggregate.

The left-footer remains a regular with Brighton under Sami Hyypia this season and will be hoping to retain his international place for the Euro 2015 Finals next summer.
