England U20s forward Jordon Ibe has been "sensational" since returning to training with Liverpool, according to Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

The 19-year-old had been out of action since February after suffering from a knee ligament injury, but has recently re-joined the Anfield squad for training.

And the former Wycombe Wanderers youngster and Derby County loanee has impressed enough to earn his place back in Rodgers’ thoughts for their game with Newcastle United on Monday.

"Young Jordon Ibe will come back in and I've got to say he's looked absolutely sensational in training," revealed Rodgers, whose side will also feature in The FA Cup semi-final next weekend.

"He's been out for a while but he's been a couple of weeks now out on the field doing his preparation work and he's joined in the training.

"And he's looked absolutely outstanding. He's got real natural fitness and he'll come into the squad for Monday night."

Ibe had enjoyed a good run in the Liverpool team prior to picking up the injury, which also kept him out of England U20s’ games with Mexico and USA last month.
