James Wilson has revealed the qualities he is trying to emulate from the clutch of international striking superstars alongside him at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old forward has become a regular member of Louis van Gaal’s first-team squad at Old Trafford this season after netting two goals on his Red Devils debut 12 months, and he hit the target again against QPR in January.

Wilson, an England Under-20s international, is privileged to train alongside Three Lions captain Wayne Rooney, Netherlands hitman Robin van Persie and Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, who together have scored an impressive 465 goals in professional.

But apart from their finishing, the youngster has revealed what other skills he would like to learn from each of his predatory colleagues.

Wilson says he would love to have the instincts of Falcao

James Wilson says he would love to have the instincts of Falcao

“I would take Wayne’s free-kicks because he practises them every day and more often than not they go on target at least, if not in the top corner,” Wilson explained to Inside United magazine.

The fledgling goal-getter then moves on to van Persie, a man he lined up alongside for the club’s U21 side on Monday.

“I would take Robin’s movement because he has done it for many years now, using opposite movements to get on the ball.”

And that brings him to Falcao. “I would have to take Radamel’s instincts because anything in the box drops to him – he is always in the right place!”
