Among those to report for international duty were Jonjo Shelvey who, following an impressive start to the 2015-16 season with Swansea City, joins the senior squad for the first time since he made his debut in October 2012 – coincidentally against San Marino.

The Three Lions arrived at a bustling St. George’s Park, already hosting four other England youth squads.

Gareth Southgate’s Under-21s are in situ as they prepare for their fixtures against USA Under-23s at Preston on Thursday 3 September.

Following that fixture they travel to Norway to begin their UEFA Under-21 Championship qualification campaign.

Three other Young Lions teams are also on site for the week.

Keith Downing – who is taking charge of the Under-20s for the first time – is preparing his squad for their game against Czech Republic. They meet at Shrewsbury’s Greenhous Meadow on 7 September.

Aidy Boothroyd’s Under-19s, who are preparing for away games against Germany and Croatia on 4 and 7 September, are also in residence.

Meanwhile, Neil Dewsnip’s Under-18s were also at the facility before setting off for Holland, whom they take on in a double-header on 3 and 5 September.

But as Roy Hodgson’s side settle in, the focus turns to securing qualification for UEFA Euro 2016 in France – as well as maintaining their 100 per cent record in Group E.

Their place in France will be rubber-stamped with victory in San Marino, ahead of their return to Wembley Stadium to take on Switzerland on Tuesday 8 September.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SWITZERLAND TICKETS

Further to recent news of proposed tube strikes on London Underground and after discussions with transport providers, it has been agreed to temporarily suspend the sale of tickets for England v Switzerland at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Tuesday 8 September.

This move will allow transport providers to ensure they can manage current ticket holders' journey to the stadium on the night of the game.

We continue to work closely with all key stakeholders and any updates will be provided as soon as we have them via TheFA.com.
