England train in Alicante

The England team trained in Alicante on Thursday evening ahead of their testing encounter with Spain.

Roy Hodgson's men face the current European champions in a friendly at the Jose Rico Perez Stadium on Friday night - the next part of their preparations for Euro 2016.

Having spent two days training just north of Alicante, Hodgson's men headed down to the match venue to get a taste of the surroundings before they go up against Vicente del Bosque's side, who qualified for the Euros as winners of Group C.

All but one player from Hodgson's 22-man squad trained at the 29,000-seater stadium - the home of Spanish third-tier outfit Hercules CF - with Jamie Vardy sitting out the session.

The in-form Leicester City striker is a doubt for the game as he recovers from a knock picked up in his club's Premier League game against Watford on Saturday.

Hodgson and his coaches Ray Lewington and Gary Neville put the team through their paces with Spain - and a home game against France on Tuesday - in their minds.

Following the Three Lions' session, the Spanish team, including English-based players Diego Costa, Juan Mata and Cesc Fabregas, arrived to have their final pre-match practice.

Tickets for England's game against Euro 2016 hosts France at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday 17 November are available to buy online from TheFA.com/tickets.
