Daniel Sturridge ready for next Saturday, says Rodgers

Daniel Sturridge will be back in training on Sunday, according to Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

Sturridge has only played three times for his club this season and his last game was for England against Norway in September.

Injury has kept him in the stands since then, but Rodgers says he'll return to the training pitch ahead of Liverpool's trip to Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final second-leg on Tuesday.

“He's at a really good level of fitness. He'll be ready for West Ham.”

And though he's not sure if the 25-year-old striker will be ready to face his former club, he expects him to be available for selection when West Ham United arrive at Anfield next Saturday.

"He's done all his rehab, so he actually starts training with the team tomorrow," the Reds boss told BT Sport after seeing his team held 0-0 by Bolton in The FA Cup.

"He's at a really good level of fitness, we only have a couple of days, we'll see how he is for Chelsea.

"He'll be ready for West Ham, whether he starts or not. Hopefully it'll be a great boost for us."
