Carrick faces four weeks on the sidelines
Michael Carrick is set to be sidelined for around a month with a muscle rupture.

The Manchester United midfielder, who has 31 caps for England, is out of United’s Premier League home match with Leicester City on Saturday after Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal revealed the news to MUTV.

Last Cap: v Poland, October 2013

"We don’t have many injuries," said the Dutchman.

"Michael Carrick has been injured now so he is out at the weekend. He can be important for the team but he is now injured.

"I think it shall take more than four weeks, so it is not a minor injury but a muscle rupture, I think.

"He is also the second captain but I have to say that’s part of the job of a manager, especially this season at Manchester United, because we have suffered a lot of injuries."

The estimated timeline would also see Carrick miss next week’s FA Cup tie against Cambridge United and league matches with West Ham, Burnley, Swansea City and Sunderland.
