Calum Chambers made his England senior debut against Norway

Calum Chambers made his England senior bow in 2014 and earned his first three caps for Roy Hodgson's men.

He actually started the year as part of the England U19s side, captaining them in four matches - three of them in their European Elite Qualifying group.

At that time Chambers was a Southampton player, the club he joined as a seven-year-told. But after a solid season with the Saints, making 24 first-team appearances, he moved to Arsenal at the start of this campaign.

After helping the Gunners lift The FA Community Shield at Wembley in August, he returned to the national stadium a month later as he was given his first taste of senior international football. He came on as a late substitute in the 1-0 friendly victory over Norway.

"It has been a whirlwind month for me," Chambers told TheFA.com. "I was over the moon [when I got the call] as it's every kid's dream to play for England.

"It was a little bit nerve-wracking when I got on the pitch. It was just excitement, I just wanted to get on there and kick a ball. I took it all in and really enjoyed it."

In October, the 19-year-old was initially called into the Under-21s squad ahead of their important Euro 2015 play-off against Croatia, but an injury to John Stones meant Hodgson needed reinforcements.

Chambers instead met up with the senior squad for their two qualifiers and made his first start in the 5-0 win over San Marino. He again played the full 90 minutes in the victory in Estonia three days later.

Three wins in three England games, with no goals conceded - a successful start to his international career.
