Raheem Sterling netted his second of the season for Liverpool at Spurs

Raheem Sterling continued his scoring start to the season with Liverpool, netting the Reds opener in a 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

After opening his account against Southampton a fortnight ago, the 19-year-old England forward took just eight minutes to put his side in front at White Hart Lane.

On the day Italian striker Mario Balotelli - who scored against Roy Hodgson's men at the World Cup - made his Liverpool debut, it was Sterling who made the early headlines.

Sterling celebrates with Henderson and Sturridge

And he applied a neat finish to a fine team goal that will please the England boss, who was watching on from the stands before he meets with his squad on Sunday night.

Daniel Sturridge played Jordan Henderson through and his low cross was tucked away at the back post by Sterling.

Former England captain Steven Gerrard then made it two from the penalty spot after Under-21s defender Eric Dier had fouled Joe Allen in the box.

Then new signing Alberto Moreno wrapped up the points with a stunning solo strike.

Danny Rose, one of Hodgson's most recent call-ups for the upcoming games against Norway at Wembley and Switzerland in Basel, started at left-back for Spurs, while Andros Townsend also figured from the bench.

However, there was one worry for the Three Lions manager as Rose was replaced late on after picking up a knock.
