Jack Wilshere and Phil Jagielka compete for possession at Goodison

England duo Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and former U19 captain Calum Chambers all started for Arsenal as the Gunners came from 2-0 down to draw with Everton.

Seamus Coleman and Steven Naismith had given the Toffees a 2-0 lead at half-time.

But Arsene Wenger’s side rallied after the break and gained what had appeared an unlikely point courtesy of goals from Aaron Ramsey and a last-minute equaliser from Olivier Giroud.

Three Lions pair Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines both started for Everton at Goodison Park while 53-capped Gareth Barry provided the cross for Coleman’s opener.

Gary Cahill played as Chelsea recorded their second straight league win, a 2-0 success against newly-promoted Leicester City.

New Blues signing Diego Costa and Eden Hazard grabbed the goals for Jose Mourinho’s men who currently top the embryonic Premier League table.

Goalkeepers Fraser Forster and Ben Foster both recorded shut outs as Southampton and West Brom drew 0-0 at St Mary’s.

England Under-21 trio Andre Wisdom, Saido Berahino and James Ward-Prowse also played in the match.

Stewart Downing, who has played 34 times for England, impressed, and scored, as West Ham ran out 3-1 winners at Crystal Palace.

And in the Championship, Under-21 winger Nathan Redmond helped Norwich beat Ipswich 1-0 in the East Anglian derby.

The Three Lions get their season under way against on Norway at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 3 September
