Lancaster and Northwich Victoria all square in Trophy

Sunday 04 Oct 2015

Lancaster City and Northwich Victoria will need a replay to decide who goes through to the FA Trophy First Round Qualifying after they battled out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Giant Axe.

Victoria made the ideal start to their trip north, as Iain Howard turned home Alex Byrne’s superb free-kick inside two minutes of kick-off.

Howard hit the post four minutes later, but the equaliser did eventually come just after the hour mark, as Matt Poole pulled City back level to force a replay.

Burscough will need no such thing, as they squeezed out visitors Bamber Bridge.

A goal just before half-time gave the home side the lead, before a goal in stoppage time ensured that Burscough would progress.

Stafford Rangers extended their unbeaten streak to 11 with a 3-1 FA Trophy victory at home to Tividale.

Neil Harvey gave Rangers the lead after 13 minutes before Chris Sterling equalised three minutes later, but second-half strikes by Jake Jones and Leon Miles sent Tividale home empty handed.

Kendal Town gained revenge for a 3-0 defeat in the league last season with romping win to go through to next round, thrashing Scarborough Athletic 4-0.

Rob Wilson gave the Mintcakes the lead inside 15 minutes and it remained 1-0 until half-time, but a goal after the break from the prolific Jordan Connerton, and two from Dan Wilkins sealed the result.

Warrington Town are no strangers to miraculous cup runs after their FA Cup heroics, and it could be their year again as they survived a late Ossett Town comeback to progress.

Ben Deegan broke the deadlock just after half-time, and it was 2-0 nine minutes later thanks to a fine header from Ally Brown.

However Ossett Town converted a penalty with 20 minutes left to make it a nervy finish as the home side pressed for an equaliser, but the Yellows hung on for the win.

On a dramatic day in the North East, Newcastle Town booked their place in the next round, triumphing in a 5-4 goal-fest.

Town went behind and equalised twice in the first fifteen minutes, and they then instantly took the lead through Neville Thompson, eventually winning out 5-4.
