Former Leicester City hero Matt Elliott believes his old club should enjoy Sunday’s FA Community Shield clash with Manchester United.

The Premier League champions make their first return to Wembley since 2000, when Elliott scored twice at the old stadium to seal a 2-1 League Cup Final victory over Tranmere Rovers.

And Elliott will be there to see Claudio Ranieri’s side face Emirates FA Cup winners United, hoping that the legion of Foxes fans can enjoy their trip to the national stadium again.

"Leicester City supporters will certainly be taking it seriously, it's been a while since they've been to Wembley and they're going to be enjoying it to the maximum," he told FATV ahead of the game.

"For the players, it's a great occasion for them as well, playing at Wembley against the might of Manchester United.

"United are the big glamour club of the country, probably the biggest club in the world commercially, and all of a sudden Leicester find themselves pitted against them at Wembley -  happy days."

It has been a busy summer at the King Power Stadium since the club’s title success last term, with new arrivals such as Ahmed Musa, Luis Hernandez and Nampalys Mendy.

That has been offset by the loss of last season’s midfield dynamo N'Golo Kante to Chelsea, but despite the departure of the influential Frenchman, Elliott still believes Leicester can shock the league again this season.

"Only a little bit would you expect them to go and win the title again," he admits.

"But I wouldn't rule anything out - you can't do, on the back of last year."
