Wayne Rooney has hailed Manchester United’s summer signings as they prepare for Sunday’s FA Community Shield at Wembley.

New Reds boss Jose Mourinho has supplemented his squad for the new campaign by adding Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, former Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ivorian defender Eric Bailly to the United roster.

And England star Rooney admits he’s been impressed by the additions as Emirates FA Cup winners United prepare to face Premier League champions Leicester City in the season’s original curtain-raiser.

"Zlatan has won trophies everywhere he's been and is a very experienced player," said Rooney.

"And Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly have come in and trained really well, they're very good signings."

Rooney, who enjoyed a testimonial at Old Trafford against his former club Everton on Wednesday night, has also enjoyed his first few weeks of working under former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Mourinho.

"I think he's a fantastic manager and you can see why he's been successful at the clubs he's been at," he added.

"Every manager is different and they have their own way and their own identity which obviously he has."
