St. George’s Park was delighted to play host to the Gibraltar senior women’s team in late November, as the staff and players enjoyed a training camp in Staffordshire, which included a friendly match with Wolverhampton Wanderers Women.

During their stay at the home of England’s teams, the team were able to utilise St. George’s Park’s facilities to the full, incorporating catering, hospitality and accommodation at our on-site Hilton hotel, as well as the state-of-the-art training, playing and recovery facilities at the National Football Centre.

“We wanted our women’s national team to be exposed to this level of facilities, to provide a footballing experience of the highest standard,” explained the Gibraltar Football Association’s Women’s Development Manager, Scott Wiseman.

“The girls were in awe of the grand nature of the facilities, particularly enjoying and benefiting from the athletic development and recovery facilities.

“The hotel was fantastic, both prior to and during our stay,” added Scott.

“Everything was taken care of for us, and the food and selection available was perfect.

“For our friendly against Wolves, the pitch was maintained to the highest standard, and we experienced no issues with it for both training and the match.

“The players didn’t want to leave,” Scott confessed.

“It has given them a real taste of how things are at the highest level and we’d love to return. Our aim is to bring back our national teams, both men and women, in 2024.”
