Candidates on the 22/23 UEFA Pro Licence cohort met for the first time at St. George’s Park this week to mark the beginning of their course.

Delivered over the course of 18-months, the UEFA Pro Licence includes direct coach development support, a study trip, theoretical workshops, media training and an independent study project. Candidates are also exposed to insights from experts across a range of sporting practices and professional industries.

Previous candidates who have gone on to achieve success in the professional game include current England Men’s Manager Gareth Southgate OBE, current Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard MBE and current Chelsea Women’s Manager Emma Hayes OBE.

While at St. George’s Park this week, candidates have been taking part in Leadership and Decision-Making exercises, including the importance of adapting in leadership positions, how the best leaders perform under pressure and how to exert influence over others.

Speaking on the new cohort, UEFA Pro Licence Lead Guy Whittingham said: “It's great to welcome a new group of coaches who are keen to continue their football learning with us at the FA. We look forward to supporting them and sharing their journey with them over the next 18 months and beyond."
