Council and shareholders approve Board structure changes to increase independence

Two further Independent Non-Executive Directors to be appointed in quarter one of 2022

Thursday 21 Oct 2021

Our Board has unanimously recommended changes to its own structure to increase its overall independence. This was today approved by both our Council and Shareholders.

The new proposals will result in the appointment of two further independent Non-Executive Directors, increasing the current Board from 10 to 12 people. The new Board would therefore comprise of the Independent Chair, The FA CEO, four Independent Non-Executive Directors, three National Game Representatives and three Professional Game Representatives.

Our Chair, Peter McCormick OBE, said: “The proposed change of the Board’s composition demonstrates The FA’s commitment to independent scrutiny. It will also provide the opportunity to bring individuals onto the Board with complementary skills to the existing Board Directors.”

We are looking to make the appointments in quarter one of 2022.
