St. George's Park's state-of-the-art facilities aren't just for football

Whilst, for many, St. George’s Park is renowned for being the home of England’s teams – our state-of-the-art facilities are also utilised for elite sports teams, athletes and bodies around the globe.

Simply put, it’s not just football at St. George’s Park.



In recent months, St. George’s Park has played host to England Rugby, provided Olympic training camps for GB Archery, GB Rowing and GB Rugby 7s, in addition to supporting Paralympic camps for teams such as Boccia UK.

Commenting on the experience of utilising St. George’s Park, Helen Nicholls, Performance Director at Boccia UK, said: “The facilities here are world class. The Futsal arena that we are training in is the flooring that we will be competing on in Tokyo and so for us it is outstanding.”

She adds: “The people here at St. George’s Park have made us feel really welcome, it is the first time we have ever been here, and we actually feel at home. It feels really safe and we can really concentrate on the performance bit of what we are doing”

“We were very grateful to be able to continue our training for the Olympic and Paralympic Games during this extremely difficult time for the UK. St. George’s Park is a fantastic venue with world-class performance facilities, and it was a great experience for the squad to train there,” commented Brendan Purcell, Director of Performance at GB Rowing.

England Rugby head coach, Eddie Jones, added: “We decided to come to St. George’s Park for the start of our preparation for the Guinness Six Nations. We had a really good week of training there and I know the players enjoyed the layout and environment. It really allowed our players to focus entirely on getting ready for the tournament.”

St. George’s Park general manager, Holly Murdoch, said: “St. George’s Park is best-known as England’s National Football Centre and the home of all England teams, but our state-of-the-art performance facilities continue to attract the best of elite sport in this country and internationally.

“The past 18 months have been a challenging period for all and we are grateful that elite sport has been allowed to continue and we’ve been able to host such a broad range of sports St. George’s Park. After providing the England Senior Men’s team with their EUROs basecamp over the past six weeks, we now have a busy pre-season schedule ahead of us with visits from the likes of Crystal Palace, Brentford and Real Betis.

“Finally, with the Tokyo Olympic Games days away, we wish the best of luck to all the Olympic and Paralympic teams that have used SGP as a training base and look forward to welcoming them back in the future.”
