Dr Kate Baker, our head of performance insights, will be leaving the organisation to return to UK Sport as director of performance.

Kate has spent three years at St. George’s Park, heading up the performance insight team within the technical directorate since joining us in 2018. She has been a key part of the senior leadership team and helped create significant progress in developing young talent across the player pathway.

Kate said: "I have enjoyed my time at The FA immensely. However, the opportunity to shape the next era of British Olympic and Paralympic sport felt like one I couldn’t pass up.

"I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last three years. I feel lucky to have worked alongside a talented and deeply committed group of staff in the technical directorate, and have no doubt that great things lie ahead for England teams.

"I'm looking forward to spending the next few weeks working hard to drive our work forward, and supporting our squads preparing for major tournaments this summer."

Technical director John McDermott added: "While I am sorry to see Kate leave us, I understand from our conversations that this is a brilliant opportunity for her to play a prominent role in developing Olympic and Paralympic sport.

"This news is testament to the excellent work being done at St. George’s Park and she leaves a strong team that will continue to play a crucial role in our work to support winning England teams. We are working through handover plans and will agree a leave date with Kate over the coming weeks."
